Final look at 2015

There is only a few hours left to 2015 and I wanted to mark it with a look back at some of my finishes during it.

There were times during the year when I was hard pressed to find time to sew, so it feels good to see that all those little moments I did find, actually added up to some finishes.

The final month of the year has felt like the most productive of all - not just in finishes, but in determining where I'm headed for 2016.  More on that, soon. ;o)

Thank you so much for all your visits, your support and for your friendship!  Wishing each of you a very Happy New Year!

The magic of felting

Remember those slippers I knitted?  I promised to show you the transformation after felting them, so get ready to have some serious "slipper envy". ;o)

The pattern to make these  cozy slippers is by Bev Galeskas (available in PDF format) and they are my all-time favourites.

Snowflakes and Pom Poms

Wrapping up the week with a late night finish that has me really happy to share with you - not only because I love my newest pillow cover, but to finally clear this from my WIP list. This sweet snowflake block has been kicking around for quite awhile. ;o)

Just keep making

I'm in total make, make, make mode at the moment and enjoying every minute of it.  Anyone else feeling a surge of creativity at this time of the year?  I intend to ride out that surge for as long as possible.  Feels so good to have ideas flowing and projects old and new coming together.

I think I've found just the right buttons for holly berries (yay for my button stash supplying 3 matching ones!). Next, stitch them onto this little project and get one step closer to a finish. :o)

WIP Wednesday - Trees!

Quickly sharing a peek of just one of the projects I'm in the midst of at the moment.

Scraptastic for the kitchen

There's been another scrappy finish to cross off my sewing list.  This time around, I was able to use up those bits of fabric left from squaring up yardage and turn them into some seasonal looking potholders.

Winter blues

My second scrappy finish for the week is another mini tree pillow!  This time in winter blues. :o)

The inspiration behind the scrappy mini tree blocks I've been making, comes from my friend, Amanda Jean at  Crazy Mom Quilts (click here for her pattern titled: Trees).

Happy to say that some progress has been made with some of those snowman faces,  slowly working towards a finished project!

The white fabric for the snowman faces is covered in iridescent dimensional dots, which you can only see close-up.

The Good Wife knits

A request for new slippers for my DH has been on my to-do list for awhile. The first and only pair I knit for him, lasted for several years - much longer than my own. I am actually wearing out my third pair (and wanting new ones myself), so it only made sense to pull out the yarn and get knitting! Doesn't that make me a good wife**? ;o)
The pattern to make these  cozy slippers is by Bev Galeskas and they are my all-time favourites. Bear in mind that the ones above are not finished - they look better once they are felted (at this point they look like clown shoes ;o).

Scrappy Mini Tree Pillow in Red

Amidst all the works in progress and sorting out what to sew next in my list of seasonal projects, I have finally made a finish.  The kind that makes me smile with delight and satisfaction.

My first finish using my scrappy mini tree blocks.

Jolly

This week, I decided it is time to tackle some unfinished seasonal projects that I keep tucking away (year after year...).  Maybe you remember my  snowman block?

Mr. Snowman with the scrap fabric auditions to give him a happy border!
