Snowflakes and Pom Poms

Wrapping up the week with a late night finish that has me really happy to share with you - not only because I love my newest pillow cover, but to finally clear this from my WIP list. This sweet snowflake block has been kicking around for quite awhile. ;o)

 

 

The block was inspired by a knitting pattern and I decided to keep it simple with my fabric choices but to play it up a bit for the quilting design.  I used a off white rayon thread to quilt individual snowflakes randomly across the pillow front.  There's lots of negative space between the flakes, in the hopes of making them stand out a bit more.  I'm pretty happy with the results and will be trying this again! ;o)

I always have fun deciding on the finishing details for my pillows. This sweet snowflake was begging to be trimmed with little pom poms.  I was more than happy to oblige. ;o)

The back of my pillow is a fine wale white corduroy which makes the perfect backdrop for a piece of vintage embroidered ribbon trim to be added along the hidden zipper placket.  Totally love this sweet detail and the softness of this combination!
Who said pillow backs had to be boring? ;o)

While savouring this happy finish, I'm also working away on a few more seasonal projects.  My creative energies seem to be in full force at the moment, so I'm trying to make the most of it.  Hoping your week has been a wonderful one!  Happy stitches to all of you working on gifts and seasonal projects. :o)
