WIP Wednesday

I'm finally quilting on my Pop Star quilt - which is on my list for Q2 of Finish-A-Long
Lucky me, I have the day off from installing kitchens with my hubby, so I intend to sew as much as possible!

I've been free motion quilting wavy lines through the squares that make the star design.

Once all those wavy lines come together, they form intersecting circles - which shows up beautifully on the backing.  Okay, they're not perfect, but somehow, that seems to add to their appeal, in my opinion.  I think I'm going to love the quilt back as much as the front when it's finished. ;o)

Backing fabric is from Denyse Schmidt's Chicopee line.

This is the first time I've used Wonderfil thread (check out that variegated spool!)   and I'm quite impressed with it.  Not only are the colours beautiful, but it creates little lint and there's no breakage.  I will definitely be buying more of this than the little sample pack I picked up at a trade show last fall.

The thread I'm using is a 50wt cotton thread from Wonderfil's Tutti line (which is their line of variegated thread in 50wt. - it comes in 41 colours!) and the colours on this spool are a perfect compliment to the fabrics in my quilt top.

I'm very close to finishing the quilting on the star and will be changing  the top thread to green when I start quilting the background.  Wish me luck finishing! ;o)

Hoping your Wednesday is a great one!

  7. Sending good thoughts for another finish soon. And you're right... that variegated thread is the perfect choice for the quilt.
