Take two vintage pretty cotton pillowcases ...
add some coordinating fabric from a vintage sheet along with a bit of lace...
to make some of the softest, most comfortable lounge pants.
Of course you can skip the pillowcases and use vintage sheets to make the lounge pants, like the ones shown above. I added some interesting contrast to the lower leg by using strips cut off another sheet rather than purchased trim as the pattern suggests.
The basic pattern for these lounge pants is found in the book, In Stitches by Amy Butler.
** *I have to tell you that as much as I love these lounge pants and thought it was a great way to use vintage bedlinens... I'm receiving some teasing. My husband refers to them as my 'Sound of Music' pants (he's referring to the movie... not that other thing you may be thinking of...). Remember the scene in the movie when Julie Andrews sews playclothes for her charges using the draperies in her room? Apparently using bedlinens for pants means I'm cheap. Yeah. Smart -alecky hubby...***

I am giggling here.. I am not a hmmm petite person, I'd need the sheets to make my lounging pants, but this is such a cool idea!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I bet you could find lots of cool vintage sheets at the local thrift stores as well. I and bet they would be soft and silky feeling as the old cotton sheets get so soft.

Not cheap at all! Creative, environmentally-friendly, and one who knows how to dress in comfort! I made a pair out a sheet from a barn sale. They are soooo wonderfully comfortable!
