Remember those chevron pieces I shared awhile back? My vision clear in my head for how to proceed, I grabbed my Frixxion pen and transferred a quilting design onto the fabric.
Marked and ready to be quilted! |
There's lots of swirls and circles to stitch, so I had another opportunity to use the free motion foot attachment on my vintage Singer.
A free motion foot makes quilting a small circle easier. I just follow the red lines marked out. |
Have I mentioned how much I love my Frixxion pen? Since buying one for the first time a few months ago, I can't believe how much I've used it. This is the first time I've tried it for marking out a quilting design. The beauty of using this pen for the marking is that makes lines that are easy to see when stitching and those lines will disappear when I pass the iron over them after the quilting is complete (I always do a test sample first to make sure the marks disapper and that my thread can withstand the heat of the iron - I'm safe as I'm using 100% cotton thread - so no melting).
Working on such a cheery project is synching up with the turn in our weather. There are actually leaves on some of our trees once again...along with gorgeous sunshine and warmth. Almost hard to believe that we still had snow earlier this month. Hope you're all enjoying some sunny weather as well. Happy Wednesday!
This is going to be beautiful Katherine! The little attachment looks fascinating- I'd love to see how it moves. Our late Autumn weather here has been like an Indian Summer- another day of 23C (73F) for some sort of record of days over 20C!
ReplyDeleteI like the pattern you're going to quilt!
ReplyDeleteThose pens are so great!
I use mine when I scetch new pattern in the little pocketbook that I have.
Nice when summer is back again!

I recently purchased a couple of the pens. It's nice to see that you've been having good results with them. I love your colour/fabric choices for this quilt. What I can see of the quilting, tells me it's going to be another stunner.
ReplyDeleteIs that linen?
ReplyDeleteI'm considering these photos quite a tease - I can't wait to see more!
Frixion pens are as valuable as a rotary cutter and nice new sharp blades - I like to buy every new colour I find :)
ReplyDeleteOOh I want/need one of those pens!! Love what you're up to and in awe of your quilting skills.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful quilting design and I am so glad warmer weather has arrived for you :)
