Hand made gift tags

This past weekend, I took part in a local event to inspire people to give handmade this holiday season.  I had a table set up with examples of gift tags I made from repurposed materials and I provided a make-and-take craft. I thought I would share some of my gift tag ideas on my blog for you to enjoy and maybe find inspiration.

Handmade gift tags can really add a personal touch to any gift. I love how they give me the opportunity to come up with creative ways to put small treasured bits of fabric, paper, trims and notions to good use.

This collection of tags was made using fabric left from when I square up my yardage for quilting.  You might remember my previous post about making fabric notecards or mini scrappy notecards? The method is similar. These fabric "strings" are stitched onto cardstock and then I used my tag die in my Sizzix Big Shot to cut them out (or you can cut tags by hand).   I love how each tag is unique and looks pretty without embellishment, but fussy cuts and paper snowflakes can add a little extra whimsy.  The sky is pretty much the limit if you decide to embellish.  Stay tuned for some more examples!

Happy Thanksgiving to all that are celebrating!

  2. These fabric scrap tags are a delight! I make my own tags too, but they have been completely made with paper scraps. I'm happy to be inspired by your fabric tags.
