It's off the wall...

and on the floor, awaiting the addition of batting and backing.  Laying it out, I made a final check on the placement of all those half-square triangles.

I only found one HST block that was a repeat (the same block twice with only one row between them). I've since replaced it to keep the layout random looking.

Since it was so gorgeous here yesterday, I tried to take some photos of the quilt top outdoors.   As you can see, it's large enough to be a bed-size quilt, which makes me really happy.

While we were hanging out in our yard, we decided to check up on the little family that's living in one of our trees.  Amazing that just over a week ago, these babies had no feathers and their eyes hadn't opened yet (and I thought that my babies grew up fast)!
My sons were keeping track of the comings and goings of the parents and marvelling at the appetites of those baby robins.    Hmmm... offspring with huge appetites.  Sounds rather familiar. ;o)

I love it! It really does look wonderful, and works so well. I don't have a big enough piece of floor or wall to do that, and I can see now that it must make so much difference when designing a quilt.

That quilt turned out so pretty. I really like how the zigzag pattern came through.

When you've got it laid out on the floor, you really see the flowing pattern... makes me think of a river!

And those baby robins are sweet. Isn't it fun to watch bird families in the spring and summer?

We've got young ones hopping around in our backyard these days, learning to feed themselves. THe other day had to shoo away a neighbour kitty, as he was after it.

I agree with Brenda - it DOES remind one of a river --- flowing over the smooth rocks, rippling quietly and peacefully - it's just gorgeous! Baby birdies are adorable too :)

Love love it! It is great to see the pieces off the wall and start planning the quilting template. My favorite part is binding.

Can't wait see the finish quilt!

That is one lovely quilt. I am amazed at how much work you put into making one quilt. Amazing!

Love the zig zaggy pattern. It has such a great look. I can see it hanging out in a log cabin, on the couch beside the fire.

Really wonderful.

Your quilt top is looking good Katherine. I'm busy sewing lots of flying geese which will have a similar effect.

This quilt is amazing, Katherine! How wonderful that it fits a bed. You hunting thru your stash for anything that might work made me chuckle. I was on a similar hunt a few weeks ago, looking thru closets for just the right color blue t-shirt to cut up so I could complete a rug. It's a sickness sometimes, isn't it?!?
