Happy Monday!

Two lovely surprises for me today.  First, that I get to work from home for the day. Secondly, receiving an email from Rachel.
Super excited to learn that my Spring Promises fabric mosaic received enough votes to be one of the winners in the Nuanced Neons contest, held at Stitched in ColorI'm beyond amazed and so delighted that I will get to play with these pretties in person, thanks to Mad About Patchwork. How awesome is that?!  You can bet that means I'll be wearing a silly grin for the rest of the day and daydreaming about what I will sew with them. ;o)

Wishing each of you, a very happy Monday and to all my American friends,  Happy Memorial Day!

Buds of May

My second entry in the Nuanced Neons contest is all about taking those bright neon Spring greens and pairing them with pinks.
It's my way of paying homage to the tree in the backyard that is currently bursting with these gorgeous buds of pink.
Above, the lovely Spring buds in my backyard.  Below, is the Design Seeds palette I based my fabric choices on.

All this virtual fabric mixing and matching is so much fun!

Thank you, Rachel (from Stitched in Color) for hosting the contest and Pam (from Mad About Patchwork) for being the sponsor.  My long weekend is off to a fun and colourful start!

Edited to add **You can vote for your 2 favourite fabric mosaics in the contest starting Friday, May 22 - through noon (eastern U.S. time) on Monday the 25th (click here to vote).

Seeing Green - Nuanced Neon

It's been a glorious day at home today, despite cooler temperatures and an overcast sky.  Fortunate for me, we were able to finish early on work commitments for the week (9 apartment kitchens + 8 vanities in 5 days... any guesses why I was glad to have a bit of a lie in this morning? ;o).  I think I've been smiling since I woke up, knowing I finally have a break from long days of installing.  I've missed having time to sew, to read and to connect with friends.
Catching up on some blog reading, I came across a fabric mosaic contest. Since I was so sad to have missed one being hosted last month by Julianna, I jumped on this one, hosted by Rachel (click here for the details....)
I've put together a couple of mosaics using gorgeous fabrics from Mad About Patchwork (both mosaics are based on Design Seed Palettes I've previously pinned) .
My first entry is all about green. Winter is finally behind us (bold to say, as it's still possible and even likely, for us to receive snow - I've lived here long enough to know the truth in that), nevertheless, I want to celebrate the wonderful greens that arrive with Spring.

Swapping for some Tilda

Hello, you. Yes, I know it's been awhile since I've made any appearance here. I've had my hands full of responsibilities that left me no time or energy for blogging.  A totally unexpected hiatus.  I'm taking a moment at the end of a lovely day off (Happy Mother's Day!), to pop in here and let you know I'm still around.  Just very, very busy working long hours with my husband.

Anyways, I wanted to share a peek at some lovely Tilda fabrics I received several weeks ago, as a part of a personal swap with my lovely friend, Maja.

Lovely Tilda fabrics to play with!
She shares my love of Tilda designs and kindly offered to surprise me with some, while I got to surprise her with fabrics of my choosing.  What fun!
Mmmm... loving those lush ribbons and that Tilda stitchery.
Along with the fabric goodness, she sent me some Tilda ribbons and a sweet stitchery. What treats! Thank you so much, Maja.
Thinking of framing this bit of handwork for my sewing room wall.  I adore Tilda designs!
Despite being beyond tired from all the crazy long work hours and a four day event last month (that made things extra crazy here... more on that on another post), I managed the odd moment to work on the stitchery.  Nothing beats some quiet handwork for bringing some serenity and joy to the everyday grind.  Oh, it was such bliss to stitch!
This week promises more of a crush on my time and creative energy, but I finally settled into my sewing room late today for some fabric play and managed to cut up a few pieces for a new project.  I needed this so much! I'm hoping that I can get stitching on this latest idea sooner rather than later.  Plus, I'm really hoping a prospective work project comes through for us this week so we can get off this crazy ride we've been on, trying to make ends meet.  It's truly been exhausting.  Okay, enough whining. ;o)
Here's to all Moms, near and far, hoping you had a lovely day with your loved ones on Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day!
