Mini Swoon Ta-da!

Pattern for the mini swoon can be purchased through Thimbleblossoms
I have a fun little finish to share.  I couldn't resist joining in on the "swoon along" being hosted by the pattern designer, Camille Roskelley, over on Instagram.  Since I have swooned* before, I decided this time I would give the mini block a whirl.

Set to finish

The mini swoon blocks are getting closer to becoming a mini quilt!

The basting pins are in place and I am going to experiment with a continuous free motion quilt design on each block.  Wish me quilting luck! ;o)

Happy swooning

The first mini-swoon block I shared on Wednesday's post,  stirred my desire to sew more!  You can find the pattern to make these sweet little blocks online, at Thimbleblossoms  - along with several other patterns that use this block, in various sizes.  No matter which version you choose, you just can't go wrong with this delightful block!

WIP Wednesday Mini Swoon

Winter is in full swing here and delivering some frigid temperatures (-22Celsius this morning) and rather than sewing up another keep-us-from-freezing sweatshirt (I've made 3 in the past week), I'm going to "swoon".

I have swooned before (go here to see my start... and my finish ;o).

Sewing a forest

The idea to turn triangles trimmed from blocks into scrappy trees has swept me away!  A half dozen little zipper pouches made (so far!) from linen and cotton scraps with other trimmings.

My current little forest of Tiny Tree Zipper Pouches (with the first one I made and blogged about, already gifted to my lovely friend, Maja).

Top 5 Posts for 2016

Exciting as it is to begin a New Year, it always interesting to review the one that is ended. The past year, I spent less time blogging than ever before - for a variety of reasons - the biggest being that my family and I moved. I also discovered Instagram and the ease of that platform had me showing up more there, than here. Nevertheless, I did have some projects that I made and shared on my blog and I thought it would be fun to do a little round up of the ones that received the most views in 2016 (click on the links below, if you wish to read the original posts).

1. Stitching More Scraps for the Kitchen

2. Kitchen Stitching

3. Stitching for the Kitchen

4. WIP Wednesday - the Good Stuff

5. Virtual Fabric Play

I love discovering that my top 3 posts were all scrappy makes and all for my kitchen!  Scrappy patchwork is my absolute favourite, so good to know that I'm not alone in that.  You can expect to see more scrappy patchwork in 2017 - if you hadn't already guessed as much. ;o)

The remaining two of my top five posts, were related as well.  I was lucky in winning a contest that provided me the fabrics I selected, as my prize and then I gave a peek at what I was making with my winnings.  That piece of patchwork will make a finished appearance during the course of this year as it is a prototype of a design I have been working on.

Thank you for joining me in my brief review of 2016!  Here's to many happy sewing adventures together in 2017.

Paused to snap this photo as I was heading back to the parking lot after going for a short (and cold!)  run on the trails in a local park on Jan. 2, before the end of the day.
I can hardly believe that here we are, already a handful of days into 2017! Wow.  Where does the time go? I am feeling rested and recharged, thanks to this past week and am full of high hopes for this New Year and I wish each of you health and happiness for a wonderful 2017!
