I was able to complete a long standing project this week, a sweet little quilt made from scraps.

Freshening up
I decided my pattern for the Fold'n Roll Shopping Bag could use a new option for finishing.

I can because I can
The lingering scent of garlic, dill and vinegar still fill the house in a heady, but pleasing aroma today. Then there's the rewarding view of seeing row upon row of Friday's worth of work lined up on the kitchen table and countertop.

Dill pickles - can't beat homemade! I like to tuck garlic and a pinch of hot chili pepper into each jar. |

Bits and Butterflies

Filling a jar with pretty scraps! |
There's some strips and some leftover bits of fabric stacking up
Happily there's more scraps that will be added (if I continue with some Butterfly block ideas). Funny thing is; I really, really want to dive into those scraps - this mix of prints in such pretty colours is very tempting. I keep telling myself to wait because the more scraps I make from my bigger projects, the more fun my scrappy sewing is certain to be. ;o)
So, tell me...What are you working on this week?

Sunday Stash - The Heather Bailey Edition
I'm enjoying a rainy Sunday this weekend, with no complaints because it's a lovely break from the hot and dry days we have been having. This summer has been difficult for many areas of Western Canada due to hot, dry weather which has led to an extraordinary number of wildfires. Having experienced living in an area destroyed by wildfire (back in 2003... wow, cannot believe it's been that long ago), my thoughts and prayers are with those being affected. I'm also hoping that rain will fall on those areas that most need it. Balance in Nature is such a delicate thing, isn't it?
Thanks to the rain, you will find me inside today looking forward to spending some time playing in my sewing room.
All of the pretty fabrics shared in my post today are from one designer - Heather Bailey (from her Lottie Da and Up Parasol lines) and as you can see, I had fun treating myself to quite a few of her fabrics during an online sale a few months back.
I even have some recently finished items made from the last group pictured. Seems this colour combination is my number one choice lately, it's just so fresh and pretty. ;o)

WIP Wednesday - Taking my time
There's been some progress on a project I shared earlier.
This one has taken me longer as I had moments when I wasn't so sure that this idea (or rather, my choices in fabric) was working out. I set it aside before making changes (that would involve the seam ripper ;o) and I'm glad I waited.
Some projects seem to need that extra time (or maybe I just need a little distance from them?), so that I'm not forcing the process and ending up with an unfavourable result. There are times, I think, when the focus can be so much on a finish that pleasure in the process can be loss. A shame, really.
I've decided that here's the perfect opportunity to take my time, to be in the moment, enjoying the creative journey. Happy mindful stitching!
